About SHCCC
Principal's Welcome

Welcome to you! On behalf of Sacred Heart Canossian College of Commerce (SHCCC), let me thank you for being interested in our College, and I wish you an enjoyable tour on our site.

As the Chinese idiom goes, “It takes ten years to grow trees, but a hundred years for a human being”, education is always a challenging endeavour, and I am proud that SHCCC has been educating young ladies for 106 years since its establishment.

The recent century has witnessed drastic changes in the territory. Hong Kong has created a legendary record in the modern history by transforming itself from a fishing port into an industrial city, and further on, into a global financial centre. In line with these changes, SHCCC has always been able to keep abreast with the time and respond to the needs of the community. As a start, our first Principal, Sr Clelia Martinelli, offered secretarial training, such as book-keeping and shorthand, to educate the female young ladies of Hong Kong. Living in the knowledge-based economy of the 21st Century, where the education system is undergoing rapid changes, we have now succeeded in providing sub-degree programmes in Accounting, Management and Marketing majors, with wide recognition from local employers. A number of reputable universities overseas have also accepted our graduates to continue their undergraduate studies with them.

With tertiary education becoming more popular, you may notice that several institutions in Hong Kong also offer similar courses like ours. In addition to our long history and reputation, our college differs from others in that we place a strong emphasis on ethics and moral education. Integrity is most important for working in our society, a kind of virtue that business students should possess in particular. We train our graduates to become professionals, not only by embarking on a successful career programme, but also contributing to the society with integrity and ethical practice. The decision they make in the business arena must have the consideration of the betterment of Hong Kong and the global community at large, the interest of the stakeholders, and at the same time, the advancement of the less privileged in the society. This may seem high sounding. However, trusting in the good will of all people and the protection of God, as St Paul wrote to his younger fellow Christian, Timothy: “Let no one despise your youth, but set others an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12), we want our graduates to become a competent workforce to serve the Hong Kong community and to spread positive and sound values to people all around.

Once again, I thank you for your visit. If you are a prospective student, I hope I can see you in our campus soon.
