Young people learn in a variety of different ways - not just inside the classroom. There are many learning opportunities outside formal lessons that contribute to the students' personal, cultural and spiritual development.

The SHCCC Cultural Policy is designed to recognize community-based learning and other meaningful learning experiences and encourage students to earn credits towards their certificate or dipolma for learning acquired outside school.

The criteria for success include the students' ability to function independently, to take an active part in activities, to make their own decisions and give their own views and reflections, and to be self-confident.

The SHCCC Cultural Policy aims to:

  • encourage students' successful completion of their course of study;
  • foster students' quest for knowledge and life-wide learning;
  • help students build self-confidence and cultivate positive values and attitudes towards life; and
  • promote whole-person development and active citizenship, and ensure employability as well as personal fulfillment.

Students are required to choose any 5 of the following 10 enrichment areas during each of the years of their study at SHCCC.

Each student is responsible for compiling her own learning portfolio, asking for official chop or authorized signature from the organizing body and teacher-in-charge, and attaching evidence related to the chosen enrichment area.

A total of 3 credits will be granted for the Enrichment Programme to students who successfully complete a minimum of 5 hours of learning in each of the 5 chosen areas.
