Background Information
The Department of Business Administration of the Hong Kong Institute of
Vocational Education (Tsing Yi) will, with grants from the Quality Education
Fund (QEF), undertake the project of "The Development of a Hong Kong
Network of Virtual Enterprises ". A Virtual Enterprise provides a learning
environment, which enhance the development of business skills, technical
skills and interpersonal skills. It is a simulated business that is set
up and run by students with support from a teacher / facilitator and a
real business. At present there are about 3,000 Virtual Enterprises throughout
the world. The concept of Virtual Enterprises was endorsed by the 1996 APEC
Forum. The project aims to develop a Network of Virtual Enterprises among secondary
schools and colleges in Hong Kong, in three phases from June 1999 to July
2001.
